DR. KEVIN NADEL
DIPLOMATE AMERICAN BOARD OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY SPECIALIST IN SPORTS MEDICINE, ARTHROSCOPY & ADULT RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, GENERAL ORTHOPAEDICS AND FRACTURES
A Southern California native, Dr. Kevin Nadel grew up in Newport Beach, before heading to Cornell University in New York for undergraduate work and Chicago Medical School, Finch University of Health Sciences for his Masters and Medical Degrees. He then returned to New York and eventually Boston for his Residency in Orthopaedics, and Fellowship in Arthroscopy, respectively.
His love of the medical practice began years before his official training, beginning with observing surgeries as a child, when his mother, who was a surgical nurse in Orange County would bring him to work with her. Anatomy in general piqued his interest, and soon enough a family friend, himself an Orthopaedic Surgeon began mentoring Dr. Nadel. Orthopaedics appealed to Dr. Nadel because in the vast majority of cases, the field would allow him to successfully treat medical problems, rather than just managing the problem. To this day, Dr. Nadel, an avid athlete himself, firmly believes in treating sports injuries quickly, with the least amount of casting possible, in order to get his patients back in the game as quickly as reasonably possible.
In his time away from the office, Dr. Nadel enjoys tennis, skiing and golf. He also volunteers his time as the team physician for the Calabasas High School football team and Oak Park High School Sports Teams. He and his family reside in the West Valley, convenient to both of his practices in West Hills and Westlake Village.
DR. NADEL’S PRACTICE
Dr. Nadel is proud to embrace the latest technological innovations in Orthopaedic Care and Arthroscopic Surgery. From treating routine sports injuries such as sprains and strains to the shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle and wrist, to complete ACL Reconstruction, Rotator Cuff Repair, clavicle fractures requiring plates, Dr. Nadel’s office is equipped to initially diagnose injuries to tendons, ligaments, joints and bones onsite. With digital X-ray machines on hand, Dr. Nadel is rarely found without his laptop, utilizing cutting edge technology to deliver results to patients immediately.
As a practice, Dr. Nadel subscribes to the philosophy that less is often more. In regards to casting, it is always his goal to get you back moving as soon as possible, which means preventing stiffness from an extended period of time in a cast. Dr. Nadel also offers waterproof casts to patients where appropriate. Similarly, when it comes to reconstructive surgery, Dr. Nadel specializes in Anatomically Correct Reconstruction with a graft, as opposed to other, more dated techniques. The reason is simple: the results are better, with patients less likely to repeat their sports injuries.
